The switch to Stripe Connect makes using Stripe simpler. The basics remain unchanged: Stripe still processes all payments, and the money still goes to a Stripe account owned by the organizer.
What's changing:
- Stripe is now integrated directly into the Paytix software. You no longer need to leave Paytix to create or manage a Stripe account. Everything is now handled under "Account Overview" -> "Payments".
- Handling of the Paytix fee: Thanks to Stripe Connect, the Paytix fee is now automatically deducted from the payment amount. Organizers no longer need to transfer Paytix fees manually, as these no longer land in their Stripe account together with the ticket revenue, but are automatically forwarded to us by Stripe when the payment is received.
- Since the Paytix fee is now deducted automatically, it is no longer possible to sell test tickets free of charge to try out Paytix. Both Paytix and Stripe fees are non-refundable and are automatically charged on every sale when using Stripe Connect.
- Existing accounts that have not yet switched to Stripe Connect can continue to use their Stripe Legacy accounts until Paytix asks them to make the switch. A specific date for the final shutdown of Stripe Legacy will be communicated to the affected users soon. We recommend that all active users switch, but only once ticket sales for any event running under Stripe Legacy have ended. New users can only use Stripe Connect.
- Stripe fees for non-standard cards are no longer covered by Paytix. Standard cards are debit cards issued in the European Economic Area (EEA). For other cards (credit cards, business cards, etc.), Stripe charges higher fees, and this difference is automatically deducted from the organizer's revenue. The difference is usually just a few cents per ticket, or up to a few euros per event. You can find Stripe's exact fees here: https://stripe.com/en-lu/pricing
